provide honest representation of training and skills, and will only
teach that which is within realm of competency, referring to qualified
sources when appropriate for physical or emotional rehabilitation.
Teachers will also set a positive example, living in accordance with
instruction, and will give students a realistic representation of yoga
and its benefits.
2) Sensitivity: Will demonstrate sensitivity towards varying moral,
religious, cultural and spiritual beliefs. Will respect all people, of
every race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and national origin.
Teachers will avoid imposing beliefs on others.

using dual relationships (such as business affiliations) for personal
gain at the detriment of students.
4) Confidentiality: Will keep in confidence all personal and medical
records of students, as well as personal communications with and/or
about students. Promises to receive consent for identification in any
professional publications, or disguise identity of student, if

5) Respect: Will treat all life with respect. Teachers will respect
students and fellow teachers, avoiding negative thoughts, actions or
words towards them. Instructors will also show deference towards nature
and the environment.
6) Loyalty: Will exhibit unconditional support of students, regardless
of circumstance (including financial challenges), through instruction
or referral to appropriate sources. A teacher will never abandon a
student.
7) Karma: Teachers will practice Karma Yoga through volunteerism, and
make themselves available to offer help where needed, demonstrating a
balance between community consciousness and self-care.
